CRUDEM is an acronym for "Centre for Rural Development of Milot". A detailed account of its history and other necessary information is included in the 'Frequently Asked Questions' document attached.
Volunteer Positions Available:
One volunteer Sonography Technician is needed to train current songraphy technician at HSC (Hopital Sacre Coeur).
Duration: Minimum of 4 months to 1 year.
2 volunteers are required to share tasks in the following areas:
- Co-ordinate visiting groups, organization and accompaniment during visits
- CRUDEM on-site liaisons with volunteers/potential donors in a fundraising capacity
- Help with Development/Grant writing for the hospital
- Participate in "Community Health" projects at the hospital - spend time with community health workers, particularly the Treatment Supervisors of ARV (Anti-Retroviral drug programme) in their activities in the field, and follow up on HIV positive patients enrolled in the Program. Partake in home visits of the Community Health Workers. Collaborate with Community Health Department on best practices for follow up/ monitoring of off-site patients.
- Collaborate with the local "St Joseph the Worker" grass roots enterprise with regard to marketing and sales of merchandise (primarily hand embroidered greeting cards and tablecloths)
- Responsible for overseeing the operation of the "St Martin de Porres" Literacy Center in the town of Milot.
- If interested, be a liaison between the Respect Life Office from the Archdiocese of Boston and the local youth group that are attempting to create their own Respect Life Presentation for the youth of Haiti.
In essence, there is a need for capacity building, training and encouragement of the local staff/members of the local community. A university graduate preferably, medical experience not necessary.
- Duration: 1-2 years (preferably 2 years)
- The positions are suitable to both males and females
- No salary is provided. The volunteers would have to have sponsorship/funding but a comfortable residence is available for accommodation of volunteers and room and board is provided.
- There is an orientation programme for new arrivals of volunteers and language training (Haitian Creole) on site.
