Organizational Setting
Capacity Building and Fundraising Officer will report directly to the Executive Director. The National Foundation for Democracy and Human Rights in Uganda (NAFODU) seeks to contribute to the promotion and strengthening of the operations and institutions of democracy, human rights, good governance and development in Uganda through election monitoring, lobbying and advocacy, civic education, training, information Dissemination and conflict resolution. NAFODU undertakes to achieve this by carrying out programs and activities aimed at strengthening the functioning of the multiparty system, corruption awareness and prevention, human rights education and advocacy, conflict prevention and management and institutional Capacity enhancement

Main purpose
As a team member led by the Executive Director, the Capacity Building and Fundraising Officer contributes knowledge and professional skills to the drafting and development of joint fundraising proposals for NAFODU Projects and general funding proposals for program development and implementation.

Role
Capacity Building and Fundraising Officer  plays several roles in NAFODU: (1) Concept contributor, developing fundraising strategies for NAFODU; (2) Liaison/focal point, for contacting and building alliances and working relationships with potential donors in the private, governmental and intergovernmental sectors in order to expand funding for NAFODU programs; (3) Advocate, conveying to multiple audiences NAFODU's vision and mission.

Partnerships
Capacity Building and Fundraising Officer works in close collaboration with NAFODU partner organizations and works closely with the Executive Director and other NAFODU senior staff in establishing collaborative relationships with officials of donor organizations with a view to building an international, public-private partnership of interested multisector institutions which will raise funding for multidisciplinary NAFODU programs.

Functions / Key Results Expected
• Produce documents and prepares detailed plans of action for all approved fundraising programs, including budgets to support their implementation, for the development of the NAFODU fundraising strategy.
• Prepare the contents of prospectuses and materials needed for approved fundraising programs, including write-up of proposals, and acknowledgement and appeal letters to donors.
• Conduct systematic research and analysis of current fundraising trends in Democracy, Human Rights and Good Governance and identify potential non-traditional donors for the development of strategic plans and budgets for raising funds from non-traditional partner/donors (e.g. foundations, private sector enterprises, research institutions, bilateral and multilateral development agencies, philanthropists).
• Contribute to establishing and maintaining long-term collaborative relationships with significant NAFODU donors and partners.

Education, Experience and Language Skills
• Advanced university degree in public/business administration, international development or management.
• At least 2 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in international setting related to human Rights.
• Experience in programs/project design, monitoring and implementation.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Costs:
The volunteer will need to arrange for the air ticket to Entebbe and NAFODU will organize for all the transport from Entebbe to Kabale. This means, we organize and meet the volunteer at the airport. As for accommodation, we have a house for volunteers with self contained rooms but the volunteer will need to be spending $20 per day $10 for meals and $10 for accommodation. We would like a volunteer who will spend not less than one year and more years actually are prefered.
