Would you like an opportunity to do an internship with a globally recognised NGO? A chance to learn about development issues while making contacts in the non-profit sector?
Habitat for Humanity is offering two internships in its head office in Dublin for enthusiastic, driven graduates or workers for a minimum of 6 months. All out of pocket expenses will be covered and the organisation would be delighted to provide references for future employers.
1: Communications/Web Intern
Tasks
- Develop, adapt and update written and visual promotional materials for use in our campaigns to enhance company identity and branding.
- Maintain and update HFH Ireland website, blog and social media pages.
- Produce quarterly e-newsletter
- Organise launch and dedication events for local building projects as required.
- Liase with Local and International Programmes with regard to their communication needs.
- Aid Executive Director with correspondence and general communications.
Skills and experience desirable
- Degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing or English preferable.
- Experience working or volunteering in non-profit sector preferable.
- Advanced communication skills: verbal, written and presentation skills
- Experience in writing, editing and proofreading
- Ability to prioritise projects
- Document layout, web page and design experience a distinct advantage
- Demonstrated experience in managing website content, to include selecting and editing content and moderating message boards, blogs etc.
Other
- Passion and enthusiasm for Habitat for Humanity’s house-building model.
- Creative self-starter who works well in a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a wide range of people/groups.
- Sense of humour, creativity, willingness to get hands dirty

2: PR/Marketing Intern
Tasks
- Produce and distribute regular press-releases about key events to local and national media.
- Co-ordinate HFH Ireland stalls at trade shows, volunteer & career fairs and similar events and represent HFH Ireland at same.
- Organise specific business and corporate events in recognition of company involvement and commitment as required.
- Organise launch and dedication events for local building projects as required.
- Develop new strategies for raising the profile of the organisation locally and nationally.
- Represent the organisation at networking events.
Skills and experience desirable
- Degree or equivalent in PR or Marketing.
- Experience dealing with Irish Media preferable.
- Experience working or volunteering in non-profit sector preferable.
- New ideas for using online/social media to raise profile of organisation
- Advanced communication skills: verbal, written and presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience of event management.
Other
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a wide range of people/groups.
- Passion and enthusiasm for Habitat for Humanity’s house-building model.
- Creative self-starter who works well in a team.
