The event is free and is not-for-profit. The celebration is an opportunity to promote a positive image of African culture and Ireland’s relationship with Africa.
Africa Day at Iveagh Gardens will comprise the following:
A main stage featuring an exciting line-up of leading African and Irish entertainers (the line-up will be announced shortly).
Sporting activities.
Story telling workshops.
An exhibition of African arts and crafts.
Singing, dancing and musical workshops.
A Kids Corner with fun activities focusing on different aspects of African culture.
To help make Africa Day a success, Irish Aid is looking for volunteers and contributors. Examples of possible contributors could be: hair-braiders, writers, street performers, artists and workshop facilitators.
If you are interested in becoming involved in Africa Day 2009, either as a volunteer or a contributor, please contact DHR Communications on 01-488 5808, or email AfricaDay@DHR.ie for further details.
