About Manzini Youth Care
MYC was established 30 years ago to provide care and shelter to street children in Manzini. The organisation has grown and expanded and now provides a range of educational projects to marginalised youth, whilst also helping marginalised people across Swaziland.
Manzini Youth Care’s work falls in to the following key areas:
· Provision of residential care to 130 boys who would otherwise be on the streets
· EnjabulweniBridgingSchool: a free primary school for over 300 children excluded from education through poverty
· BoscoStudyCenter: for young people who have dropped out of the school system to upgrade subjects for the purpose of pursuing tertiary education or training
· Bosco Skills Centre and Likusasa Skills Centre: skills training centres for marginalized youth, offering trade and life skills subjects to prepare them for the workforce
· BoscoYouthCenter: caters to approximately 300 young people each week with sports and activities as an alternative to the streets. Also provides a programme of basic skills training
· Social Outreach: MYC works with peri-urban communities to tackle poverty at the grass roots, responding directly to the needs of the community
· Social enterprise for development: Eswatini Kitchen is a thriving commercial enterprise producing a delicious range of Swazi jams, chutneys, atchars and sauces. It is the primary income generating project for Manzini Youth Care, along with its recently launched new product line Eswatini Honey.
Duties & Responsibilities of the Volunteer
· Research and design projects and prepare applications for funding.
· Responsible for managing project budgets, preparing progress reports for donors and managing donor relations.
· Capacity building of local staff to take over these responsibilities in future.
· Oversee the implementation of projects, with line management responsibility managers of larger projects.
· Capacity building of project managers.
· Support monitoring and evaluation across the organisation, capacity building local staff in this area.
· Communications – Produce annual report and quarterly newsletters.
· Assist with the recruitment of short-term international volunteers, and work with other staff to provide volunteer inductions.
· With the Director, manage large groups of short-term volunteers.
· In consultation with the management team, develop organisational policy and procedures.

Degree in International Development or related field

· Excellent writing skills and experience of preparing project proposals and written reports

· Financial literacy and experience of budget management

· Highly proactive, with demonstrable experience of working with minimal supervision
|

· Line management experience
|
|
|
· Ability and willingness to manage a large and very varied workload
|

What we can offer
Ideally we would like someone to commit to a two year placement. A local living allowance and accommodation (in a rented apartment in central Manzini) will be provided. It may also be possible to provide health insurance and a flight out here subject to funding.
