This one-day workshop provides a chance for those thinking of volunteering for global development to meet with others and consider the options available. The sessions will explore:
• An introduction to development and underdevelopment
• The role of the volunteer in the context of development
• Types of sending agencies and projects
• Motivations for going overseas
• Solidarity work from Ireland
The workshop is participatory and is designed to explore the issues in a way that will encourage action on development issues from a justice and equality perspective.
Date: Thursday 26th February 2009, 10.00am – 4pm
Venue: Irish Peace Institute, University of Limerick
Cost: €35 (student, unwaged or Comhlámh member) or €55 (non-members)
