TEACH, COACH, LEARN

Recruiting Volunteers

The staff and children of our Partner Organisations in India and Kenya are looking for 8 teams of 12 volunteers to work with them next summer.

The Suas Volunteer Programme provides an opportunity to volunteer in a community-based education project for ten weeks, while learning about different cultures. It offers the possibility to develop personal and professional skills, to work in a team, and to learn about the challenges and opportunities of Development in our interconnected world.

What does the programme involve?

Training and Preparation (Feb - June): Including three preparation weekends (teaching skills, language, project management, Health & Safety), and full support while you fundraise the participation fee (an experienced fundraising mentor per team, materials, resources, training and more..)

Overseas Work Placement (June – Aug): a 10 week placement working for one of our Partner Schools in India or Kenya. Volunteers work primarily as teaching assistants but also engage in various other activities including research, curriculum development, & IT support.  The Programme also involves a unique opportunity to learn about Development through on-going NGO visits and a week of in-country workshops facilitated by the UN.

Return and Closeout (Aug - Oct): A debriefing weekend in October gives Volunteer teams a chance to talk about their experience, to celebrate their achievements, and to look forwards and ask what’s next?
Application Deadline – Thursday 4th December
