Viatores Christi, which was founded in 1960, recruits, trains and places people with skills and life experience in roles with our mission partners overseas.  We are currently seeking people over the age of 21 (retired people especially welcome) who are interested in overseas volunteering.  We offer a comprehensive training programme to help you discern whether overseas volunteering is for you and full support before, during and after your placement if you do decide to go overseas.

The Global Awareness Programme is an exciting training, volunteering and awareness raising project focussing on HIV/AIDS.

Four people will be chosen to participate on the programme.

The participants will:

  • Attend training on HIV&AIDS issues in Ireland
  • Attend a training on media and awareness raising skills
  • Volunteer for 8 weeks in a HIV&AIDS organisation in South Africa
  • Plan and implement an awareness raising campaign around HIV&AIDS on their return to Ireland


Bursaries are available to help with the costs.

Viatores Christi is running a six weekend training programme (one weekend per month from January – June) The first workshop takes place on the weekend of 20-22 January. Professionals in health, cultural adaptation, community development, global awareness, personal awareness etc will facilitate each workshop and there will be the opportunity to meet recently returned volunteers who will share their experience and assist you in your journey.
