Come along to our Volunteering 2012 Info Event and find out about a wide range of International Volunteer Projects (from 2 weeks to 1 year) which you can be involved with this year through VSI in over 70 countries worldwide.

We will introduce our projects in

• Ireland; Europe (east and west); North America; Japan and Australia
• Africa, Asia and Latin America; Middle East and North Africa
• Long Term Volunteer Programme including European Voluntary Service
• Youth programme
• Local volunteer work in Dublin

The next First Wednesday Debate takes place at Bewley's Cafe, on 01 February at 6.15pm. Labour TD Dominic Hannigan and Mbemba Abdulie Jabbi from the Africa Centre in Dublin will discuss the issues at hand. Well-known RTÉ journalist, activist and campaigner, Laura Fletcher will chair the debate. Audience participation is encouraged, so please come and join us and have your say!

Viatores Christi is running a six weekend training programme (one weekend per month from January – June) The first workshop takes place on the weekend of 20-22 January. Professionals in health, cultural adaptation, community development, global awareness, personal awareness etc will facilitate each workshop and there will be the opportunity to meet recently returned volunteers who will share their experience and assist you in your journey.

Suas is currently seeking to recruit Coordinators to work as part of the Programme Management Team on the 2012 Volunteer Programme. The Coordinator role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable leadership and management experience in a challenging overseas environment, working alongside dynamic and inspirational local partner organisations. Coordinators support and lead teams of volunteers through the duration of the programme, and are involved with the design and delivery of the programme,  which includes a well-developed training and learning phase, a 12 week overseas placement from June to August (in India or Kenya) and a close-out on return to Dublin.

Lámha Suas is a new Irish based organisation dedicated to supporting education in the Mubende district of Uganda. They work closely with the Ugandan Ministry of Education to provide support to a number of government schools in the Mubende district of Uganda.

Support is provided by sending qualified Irish teachers to work alongside Ugandan teachers on short-term volunteering placements; funding long-term programmes such as school feeding, improvement of school infrastructure and a teacher scholarship fund. They also support the wider community by recruiting nurses to work in the local health clinics on short-term volunteering placements and also supplying medical equipment.

Working in Romania since 1990, the Comber Foundation supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities to leave institutional care and move into new homes in the community.

The two five week volunteer programmes run from June - September. Applications are now being accepted from professionals in the following areas:
