A-Z Children’s Charity seeks Experienced Nurse/Health Care Manager for 4-6 Month placement in Uganda from January/February 2011. The organisation is in the process of constructing a paediatric primary health and specialist HIV clinic in Uganda, which will provide medical care for up to 20,000 of the most vulnerable children in Uganda each year. 20 Ugandan staff will be running this clinic once it is opened in April/ May 2011. A-Z is looking for an experienced nurse or health care manager who can dedicate 4-6 months of her valuable time to help with the set up of this clinic. You will be responsible for coordinating recruitment, policy formation, standard operating procedures, procurement and training in the clinic. International Volunteer Day will be celebrated worldwide this December. To celebrate Comhlámh are hosting a seminar and reception at the Mansion House, Dublin on December 4th. The seminar entitled ‘Volunteering: A Stepping Stone for a Career in Development?’ will be followed by a reception with a chance for volunteers to meet up with their old peers, exchange memories and celebrate their work over the year. Acting for a better world
There are many ways to act for a better world from Ireland, from everyday choices we make, such as ethical shopping and investment, to getting involved in the global justice movement. This course will provide a space to share experiences with others, while also providing the media and campaigning skills to raise awareness effectively. It is relevant both to those who have lived in developing countries and those who have an interest in global issues.

A one-day workshop for people interested in volunteering overseas in a developing country.
This workshop provides a chance for those thinking of working for global development to meet with others and consider the options available. The sessions on the weekend will explore development and underdevelopment, the role of the development worker in the context of development aid, types of development and aid agencies, motivations for going overseas, and solidarity work from Ireland.
The course will be facilitated by a group of returned development workers. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to meet with returned volunteers and development workers. The workshop is participatory and is designed to explore the issues in a way that will encourage action on development issues from a justice and equality perspective.
