The Global Border Studies (GBS) is looking for a dynamic teacher / coordinator and a volunteer teacher for 10 months starting in March 2009.

GBS is a distance learning programme based at Nu Po refugee camp on the border between Thailand and Burma. The programme has been developed in partnership between staff from Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland and The Karen Refugee Community Education Entity, Thailand.

Celebration of International Volunteer Day

5 December, 2 pm, Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre, Upper O’Connell Street, Dublin 2. 

The event, organised by Comhlámh in association with Volunteer Centres Ireland, will celebrate the valuable contribution volunteers have made globally to economic and social development.  Come join us for music and food and hear leading figures share their thoughts on volunteering.  Justin Kilcullen, Trócaire, will talk about the role of volunteering from an international perspective, while Dr Yvonne McKenna, Volunteer Centres Ireland, will address the local perspective.  Please note this event is generously supported by Irish Aid and that participation is free.
