Info Events for VSI Volunteering Programmes 2009

VSI will run 2 Info Workshops in Dublin on Wednesday, 25 February at 6.30pm and Sat. 28 February at 2.00pm in the Central Hotel, Exchequer St., Dublin 1. There will be presentations on all of VSI's programmes and the 500 plus projects taking place in 2009 in over 70 countries worldwide. Copies of our Project Book will be available. In July 2009 Camara will be sending volunteers to teach in our EDU-Labs in schools across Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Zambia. Volunteers will teach introductory computer Hardware and Software skills in schools and educational institutions over a four week period.

VSI World Development Workshop: 28-29 March, Greystones Co. Wicklow.

This weekend workshop (Saturday morning to Sunday after lunch) is part of the Preparation Programme for the VSI Africa / Asia / Latin America Programme. The workshop will combine several inputs on current development issues using speakers, videos, simulation games etc., along with details of the 2009 projects and inputs on health and safety aspects. Application forms for the 2009 Programme can be completed over the weekend. The workshop will be run by the VSI Development Education Group all of whom have volunteered on the programme in previous years. Further details available from VSI, T: 01 8551011.

Haven, a new international development agency, building homes and hope for the people of Haiti, is aiming to recruit 250 volunteers to travel to Haiti at Halloween, October 2009 for its first ever ‘Build-It-Week’. 

Haven is seeking experienced tradespeople, including block-layers, labourers, carpenters, plasterers, electricians, plumbers etc. But, we are also seeking medical staff, caterers, cleaners and have limited places for those not from these sectors but who are willing to work hard to improve the lives of others.
Feel free to come along to our Cork Roadshow, on Monday, 2nd March, in the Kingsley Hotel, at 7pm, to meet the Haven team, and find out more about how you can get involved.
